Preparation is critical. My wife and I recently sat down with our bug-out bags - all three of them (one for each car, one for the house) - checking expiration dates and making a list to see if we were lacking anything from one bag to the next.
Now, some of you may think we're nuts. Gone off the proverbial "deep end." I know, I know.
We prefer calling it being PREPARED, as much as we feel we need to be at this time. No, we aren't feeling the need for a bunker. Not yet. We aren't so sure we even want to live in a world where things have that gone "Mad Max." We began about two years ago, purposely buying ten extra cans of soup when we shopped. Though we forgot to buy them more often than we remembered, in time, we had a new Sam's card and bulked up on a few things. We did our due diligence, read some books, watched some videos, watched a few episodes of Man vs Wild. Do what you CAN do, NOT what you can't do!
Sure, we can all hope for the best, but something that's lacking with many Preppers is they can't REALLY imagine anything really awful happening, especially not to THEM. We're praying AGAINST the storms of life ourselves! Too many of those who DO prepare for the "Stuff Hits The Fan (SHTF)" variety of disasters cannot find within themselves to even discuss a disaster with their families and friends and what to do if one should take place. This denial leads to a failure of preparing beyond even a couple of days or so. Deep down, they're still convinced the government, or some other safety net, will come through for them when their preparations run out.
Tell that to the Katrina victims.
